着色料を使って付けるやり方と、野菜などの自然のものから出る色を使って付けるやり方がありますが、 今年は、自然のものを使って着色するんだと心に決めていました．．．
と言うのは、我がふるさと宮崎県綾町に住む、素敵な女性達の影響を受けてのことなのです。
Facebookを通して、枇杷の蕾み、ヨモギ、椿の花びらを使う染め物を生活に楽しく取り入れながら暮らす彼女達のライフスタイルに憧れて、今回始めてのトライです。 （彼女達の染物は染めて終わりではなく、果てしないクリエーティブの世界に続く素晴らしいものに変身していくのですが．．．)
黄色はターメリック（Tumeric）、青色は紫キャベツ、緑色はチャード（Swiss Chard)、紫色はクランベリーとビーツ（Beets)、オレンジ色はたまねぎの皮を利用しました。
どんな色に染まるかなぁ～ というドキドキと、出来上がりの色合いに驚かされたりと、風邪をこじらせてしまって頭がボーっとしておりましたが、私にとって楽しいアドベンチャーとなりました。
市販の着色料より素朴な優しい色に染まり、のんびりほんわかした気持ちになれたイースターでした。 こういう気持ちに導いてくれた綾の乙女達に感謝です。

One of the Easter traditions.... Egg coloring.
There are two different ways to color the eggs. One way is to color the eggs with store bought food coloring. Another way is to color the eggs with natural colors like vegetables.
I've been influenced by a couple of lovely ladies living in my home town Aya, Miyazaki, Japan who take the natural way of coloring to another level using such as Loquat buds, Wormwood, Camellia petals into part of their life styles.
The color "yellow" came from Tumeric, the color "blue" came from red cabbage, the color "green" came from Swiss Chard, the color "purple" came from cranberries & beets, and the color "orange" came from yellow onion skins.
It was my first try using natural products. I kept on guessing what color they would turn out to be and I was given a pleasant surprise at the end. What an adventure it turned out to be!
The colors on eggs turned out to be warm, fuzzy, & lovely colors, which made me warm & fuzzy inside as well. Thanks to these fabulous "Aya" ladies for leading me to experience the joy of natural coloring. The most of all, thank you for always showing me the joy of everyday life and more.
