ゲイブリエルとビーチタイム!

ロサンジェルスに住む友達の息子ちゃん達と、久々にビーチで楽しい時間を過ごしました。

赤ちゃんの頃から知っている２人も、今では高校生と中学生。子供の成長は早いとつくづく思うのでした。

We enjoyed our beach time with Gabriel & Julian in Huntington Beach today.  Gabriel is only 12 years old and always play well with my boys.   They love Gabriel like their big brother! 

So good to see you Julian!  Have a great time during your study abroad in Mexico!

 

 

 

 

 

 

ここ2日間、これと言ったエクササイズしてなかったので、息子達がスイミングレッスンを受けている間に、500mみっちり泳いできました。
A 500m long swim while my sons took their swimming lessons... I needed it for sure after not doing much exercise for the last 2 days.

UPS パッケージ配達ごっこ。

今朝、クローゼットの中で探し物をしていたら、すっかり忘れていたハロウィーンのコスチュームが出てきました。長男が３歳のハロウィーンで着た、UPSドライバーの制服です。それを見た末っ子は、目をキラキラとさせ早速着たいと言い張り、UPSパッケージ配達ごっこが永遠と続くのでありました。ピンポーン、ピンポーン、ピンポンピンポーン!!!!!.... 一体いつまで続くのだろう?
写真は本日シャーッターを切った末っ子の写真と、幼稚園でのハロウィーンにて、長男が３歳の時の写真です。

While you are looking for something you needed at this very moment,  you never find what you're looking for, but always find something you've totally forgotten about.  While I was going through stuff in my closet, I found the Halloween costume my eldest son had worn when he was 3 years old. My youngest laid his eyes on the costume and wanted to play "UPS delivery guy".  He's been ringing our door bell at the front door forever and ever.... "Here is your package.  Please sign here" has been played out over and over again.  I hope it ends soon.
The 2nd picture is my eldest son when he was 3 in his preschool Halloween parade.

Sawdust Art Festival & Art A Fest 2013

毎年夏恒例の、ラグナビーチ・アートフェスティバルの一環である、Sawdust Art Festival とArt A Festに足を伸ばしまてきました。 夏休みのアートプロジェクトを始める前に、少しは息子達の感性をくすぐってくれるかな～っという思いで、地元のアーティストによる沢山 の作品を鑑賞してきました。

Sawdust Art Festivalでは、グラス細工の仕事場を覗き、息子達はなんとも真剣な眼差しで見ていました。 その場でアートを体験するコーナーでは、紙切れを使ってのモザイクアートに挑戦。 一言も口を開かず、これもまた真剣な眼差しでコツコツと取り組んでいました。

後半は木陰で滝のせせらぎをバックに、Alternative/Blues & Worldバンドによるライブパフォーマンスを楽しみながら、バルーンアーティストに風船の動物や帽子も作って貰いました。

It's the time again for Laguna Beach Art Festival!  I took my boys to "Sawdust Art Festival" and "Art A Fest" to put the right side of our brain to work.  I'm also hoping for my sons to be inspired by many arts before they start working on their summer art projects.

We got to see a glass artist working on a piece of art up close at Sawdust Art Festival.
The boys were so amazed how an orange sizzling object turning and shaping into a beautiful vase.  They also got to experience making a paper mosaic art there. 
They got so into the process.  I didn't think I heard even any squeak came out of  their mouths.

We all enjoyed the live music at the stage under Eucalyptus trees with water fall right behind us.  A balloon artist walked up to us and made hats and an lion for the boys.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

タバスコならぬ「柚子スコ」！

親友から送られてきた、タバスコならぬ「柚子スコ」！ 浅漬けに振りかけてみたら、パンチが効いて中々のお味!

辛子明太子などで有名な福岡に製造元はあるらしいけど、柚子はふる里宮崎の物を使用(東米良産との表示)してある。

一遍にして、だだの浅漬けが、ふる里の味に変身‼
ほんの少し、気持ちだけ、里帰り出来た我が家の朝の食卓でした。

 

Swimming Lesson Day 4. . .

初日は、プールに入って顔を水に漬けた瞬間、ガプッっとお水を飲み込んでゲホゲホ苦しそうに、「お家に帰ろうよ~」と小声で何度も呟いていた末っ子くん。　

４日目には、顔を水につけたまま、蛙が死んだ振りをしたような状態で、水に浮かべるようになりました。今日は曇り空で肌寒いせいか、レッスン後は、紫の唇をがたがた震わせてタオルに包まっています。

My 3 year old kept saying, "Let's go home" on the very first day of his swimming lesson after he went under the water and took mouth full of pool water.  Yikes! 

On the 4th day of his lesson, not only he learned to close his mouth to go under the water, but also float in the water as if he is a frog pretending to be dead.  It's a cool day with low clouds today, so he was shivering by the time the lesson was over.

約束のお出かけランチ!

今日は長男の学校のお友達と、お互いの弟達もみ～んな揃って、お出かけランチ!
図書館の読書プログラムのご褒美でもらったお子様ランチ券を片手に、ウキウキしながら到着すると、なんと２日前にレストランは閉店しちゃってて、ただ唖然とするばかり。 「レインフォーレスト カフェだ～！」ってあんなに楽しみにしていたのに．．．

仕方なく、同じモール内の別のレストランへ。結局、お友達と一緒にワイワイ言いながら楽しく出来れば、場所も食事の内容も全く関係なかったようです。
男の子、バンザ~イ!といった感じの賑やかなランチタイムになりました。

優しい笑顔とこぼれんばかりの愛情で、４人の息子たちといつも接しているトンニャ、私の大尊敬するママの一人です。そんな彼女といろんな話が出来て、楽しかった!

 

 

 

 

The lunch outing with the Bailey boys!  That means total of 7 boys between age 3 and 8 together in one place.
They all earned the free kids lunch from their reading program at Rain Forest Cafe at South Coast Plaza.  It only turned out that the restaurant at this location has closed permanently just 2 days ago.  The plan "B" took us to "BOUDIN SF" just around the corner.

The boys had a blast talking, laughing, and eating together!  It was clear that what they eat & where they eat didn't matter at all as long as they get to spend time together. 

Tanya, I admire you for being such a great Mom for your 4 little men.  I truly enjoyed your company over lunch today!

幸せの小包

幼馴染みの美紀ちゃんから、嬉しい内容の小包届きました‼ 「みーすけちゃん、これも好きそうだよ。」と、仕事帰りに寄り道していろんな物を買って来ては詰めてくれる、彼女の優しい旦那様、たっちゃんにも感謝!  夫婦揃って吟味しながら揃えられた品ばかりなんです。あれでもないこれでもないって、いろんな所を駆け巡る可愛い夫婦の姿が目に浮かぶ～。Got an package filled with goodies from my best friend in Japan.

Everything I found in the package was so exciting and some so yummy. . . love them all and love you both!  

早速、送ってくれたカニのおつまみを、送ってくれた富士山グラスにビールを注いで頂きました。上手く泡が立た ずに富士山に見えず、大失敗! (~_~;) 。 大切な友達、美紀ちゃんとたっちゃんに乾ぱ～い!

Tried out the Mt. Fuji beer glass, but it failed to form beer head to look like Mt. Fuji this time...(~_~;)  Better luck next time to get the beer foam.

スイミングレッスン前の水遊び

スイミングレッスンが始まる前から、プールで遊び過ぎてお疲れの様子。休憩している間にしめしめ と、ママもエクササイズ。200m泳いで戻ってくると、全く同じ格好で寛いでいました。They played too hard in the pool even before their swimming lessons. While they were resting, I got to swim a few laps. When I came back, they were resting in the exact same position as they were before. Yay for good hours of nap time ahead of us! *\(^o^)/*

Enjoyed Japanese Cold Noodle "Somen" for lunch.
It's the best for the hot summer day like today!

暑い日のランチには、そうめんが美味しい!
日本人ならではの涼しみ方です。
長男、明日はざる蕎麦が食べたいそうです．．．来週じゃ～、ダメ？

If there is a free educational event in town（maybe out of town within a certain distance）, you will find me there with my 3 boys.  Today we were at the Community room of Foothill Ranch Library for Live Animal Show.  We got to have a close look at Macaw, Kinkajou, Groundhog(Whistle pigs), Iguana, Grey Fox, and Armadillo, and we learned so much about them.

近所で催される無料の教育イベント（少しくらい遠出をしてもかな．．．）、先ず見逃すことはない私。息子３人のスイミングレッスン終了直後に、猛スピードで隣の、またその隣街の図書館までドライブしてやっと間に合った、ライブ・アニマルショウ。 勿論、入場無料!　コンゴウインコ、キンカジュー、グラウンドホッグ（大きなモグラみたいな豚系の動物）、イグアナ、グレイフォックス（狐）、アルマジロなどを目の前で観察出来、それぞれの持つ特徴や生態について、沢山の事を学べました。

 

 

 

 

 

 

Target Free First Sunday at Bowers Museum (バワーズ美術館、第一日曜入館無料の日）

Target Free First Sundays at Bowers Museum! Boys enjoyed the craft time and we all enjoyed the live performance for Native American Indian dance, and the live music by the blues band "The 3rd degree" in the court yard.
今日は、Targetスポンサーの第一日曜日、バワーズ美術館の入館が無料の日。中庭での工作やネイティブ・アメリカン・インディアンに世代受け継がれてきたダンスの披露、ブルースバンドによるライブ パフォーマンスを楽しんできました。
