麟太郎と初デートの巻．．．

Play Ball !!!  My first date with my 5 year old son has just began at Angels Stadium for Angeles vs Seattle Mariners game.  Today happen to be the C.J. Willson's bobble head give away night!
It's our first Bobble head ever!

Zachary looks so happy and content with Mommy on his side all to himself, and watching his favorite baseball team play live.  I don't know how many times he looked at me with a big O smile and told me he loves me during the game.   He also gave me countless kisses on my hand throughout the night while he cheered for Angels.  The Angels won!  So we stopped by on our way home to grab ice cream corn to celebrate the win.

プレイボール!!! 今日は５歳の息子と初デート。エンジェルスとシアトルマリナーズの試合を見に来ています。今日は記念すべき、我が家にとっては始めてのBobble Headをプロモーションの品に貰い、ダブルジョイといった感じでテンション上昇しています。

ママを独り占めの上、大好きな野球チームの試合をライブで見れて、麟太郎は大のご機嫌ぶり。
試合中に、何度も私の方を見ては万円の笑みで「アイラブユー」と呟いてくれました。
それから、熱心な応援の合間に、手を握ってきては手の甲に数え切れないほどのキスも。

エンジェルスの勝利!  試合もとっても良かったけど、貴方との貴重な時間、ママはとっても幸せでした。麟太郎、ありがとう！

 

 

 

 

ラーメン vs 炭火焼牛タン定食

長～い夏休みの第一日目。先ずは腹拵えから．．．
久々にミツワマーケットのフードコートにて、和食ランチです。　
今朝、筋力トレーニングの前に見てしまったラーメンのFBアップが、午前中ず～っと脳裏をくるくる駆け回り、『山頭火』の大盛り塩ラーメンが食べたくてしょうがなかったのですが．．．
『牛タン専門店、司』という新しいテナントが入っているではありませんか。それも、炭火焼!
ラーメンは息子達が注文。私は牛タン定食に速攻変更。美味しかった~。幸せ~。

We started the first day of long summer break with good work out this morning at the park followed by some protein, then followed by Japanese lunch at Mitsuwa Market Food Court.
The image of Ramen by my FB friend had been stuck in my head all morning.  I had to have "Shio Ramen" for lunch at "Santouka".  I saw a new "beef tongue" specialized eatery that I never seen before. I am such a sucker for "Charcoal grilled" beef tongue!  The moment I saw a man grilling the thin sliced beef tongue, my desire for Ramen became a good old memory.

The Last Day of School (学期最後の日を祝ってアイスクリームサンデー!）

Celebrating the last day of school with ice cream sundae. My 2nd grader & kindergartener had a great school year! Thanks to their amazing teachers, and great job my boys!
今日は学年最後の日。2年生、キンダー(小学校付属の幼稚園年長組)を無事に終了、よく頑張りましたの意味で、アイスクリームサンデーでお祝いです。明日から長い夏休みが始まります。

 

How much do I love. . .

This was his answer when I asked my 3 year old how much he loves me.
It helped me to keep on going when I am feeling under the weather and feeling down. Today could be your loved one's last day on earth. Don't be shy to tell them and show them how much you love them! Rest in peace to my beloved uncle.

「ママのことどれだけ好きか教えて～」というママのおねだりに、息子はこんな答えをくれました。 身内に不幸があり、ここ２、３日体調を崩していたので、元気のストックアップに繋がりました。 今日が、貴方にとって大切な人の最後の日になってしまうかもしれません。大切な人への感謝の気持ちや愛情は、言葉や行動で表現しておくことの大切さ、実感しています。

 真澄叔父ちゃん、 辛口のジョークと、辛口好みの手料理で家族みんなを楽しませてくれた叔父ちゃん。これから貴方の姿が見られなくなると思うと、寂しさで涙がこみ上げてきます。
幼い頃から、仕事も料理も、何でも人一倍上手にこなせる叔父ちゃんとの思い出を大切に生きていきます。どうぞ、天国でこれからも見守っていて下さいね。

父の日 （Father's Day 2013）

Father's Day celebration at my in-laws house over BBQ and an apple pie. Thanks to my husband for being such a wonderful Dad for our boys. I'm glad you liked the gift, the picture of us on wooden framed canvas. Happy Father's Day, Brian.  We love you!
父の日のセレブレーションは、主人の実家にてBBQを囲み、持ち寄りランチ!
父の日のプレゼントには、木製のフレームに貼ったキャンバス生地の写真。例年の反応とは比べ物にならない嬉しそうな表情に、プレゼントした方がとっても幸せな気持ちになってしまいました。

趣味の野菜とお花の栽培に夢中の父へ、
祖母や妹達の支え柱役、ご苦労様です。
感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。
この写真をプリントしたネクタイを送るので、大好きな故郷、綾町の役場関係のイベントなどに着けていってね。 お父さん、いつもありがとう。 息子達も、「じいちゃん、Happy Father's Day!」って言っています。

主人のお父さん．．．普段は下手なジョークを伝えながら、先に自分が吹き出してしまうお茶目なFather-in-law。 ゴルフに、グルメに、旅行に、そして様々な社交行事にスケジュールがぎっしり詰まった花の老後を満喫中。 いざという時は、真剣に相談に乗ってくれる大きなハートの持ち主で、感動すると涙腺がとっても緩いんです。Happy Father's Day, Gary!

Estuary Awareness Day

今日は、ニューポートビーチにあるバックベイ 科学センターに来ています。
１年に数回だけ一般にアクセスが許されるイベントの一つ、Estuaries Awareness Dayです。
河口の生態系環境に関する知識を増やし、環境改善や環境保護への関心を深めてもらおうといったCalifornia Department of Fish and Wildlife、ニューポート市、カリフォルニア州立大学アーバイン校（UCI)、オレンジ郡ヘルスケアエージェンシーによる、内容盛り沢山の呼びかけ活動です。


敷地内に設けられたブースを回り、13の質問事項の答えを見つけ出すという Scavenger Huntにも参加。ブースに設けられた水槽のサメやエイを観察したり、ヒトデやザリガニを触ってみたり、プランクトンを顕微鏡で観察したりと、楽しくいろんな事を学ぶことが出来ました。
何よりも楽しかったのは、４５分間に渡るポントゥーンボートによるニューポートバックベイのガイド付きツワーでした。

We got to participate in a Scavenger Hunt by going around the booths for a prize, had a close look of sharks & rays, touched sea stars and other marine critters, and observed plankton under a microscope.

Our highlight of this event was a guided tour of the Back Bay on the Newport Sea Base's pontoon boat!  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Raspberry & Blueberry & Lemon cream filled cupcakes!

明日は近所の公園で、２年生の学期末パーティー!
生徒達の親による持ち寄りのホットドッグ、フルーツサラダ、カップケーキを食べながら、
ゲームなどをして楽しむそうです。いわゆる、遠足みたいなものです。

それぞれ決められた品々の中から、カップケーキ係を引き受け、作っている最中です。
学期最後のスペシャルなイベントなので、ケーキの真ん中を抜いてレモンクリーム、ラズベリー、ブルーベリーを詰め、何時もよりスペシャルなカップケーキです。

Tomorrow is the "Year end Party" for the 2nd graders at the park near school!
The parents were volunteered for bringing some food times, drinks, and party items for this event.　 I am making cupcakes by taking the middle part out (My eldest son is willingly helping me by eating the middle part), and filling the hole with lemon whipped cream, raspberries, & blueberries.

 

 

 

Pear & Almond Tart (洋梨とアーモンドのタルト）

最近スイーツ作りに火がついてしまった私。
今日はPear & Almond Tart (洋梨とアーモンドのタルト）を作ってみました。

自画自賛ですが、クラスとがサックサクに香ばしく焼きあがり、
洋梨の爽やかな甘さも程よく出て、美味しく出来上がりました。

洋梨をレモン汁と砂糖水で煮込んだ時のジュースが、とっても爽やかだったので、

スコッチウイスキーと氷で割ったり、コニャックと氷で割ったり、
ブランデーと氷で割ったりしてカクテルにして頂きましたが、

これが、タルトより美味しいという、美味しいおまけを見つけてしまいました。

人参虐待事件

人参虐待… 某スーパーで、アボカドの熟れ具合を確認中に起きた事件です。
末っ子くんの『破壊』を表現するような擬音語を連呼する声に振り向くと、なんと人参をボリッ、ボリッって折ってるではないですか!

「止めなさい! ナイスじゃない事しちゃダメじゃない!」と厳しい声で言うと、ニッコリ笑顔で「凄いでしょ~。ママ、僕はこんなに強くなったよ」だって。

先日4キロ袋で買ったばかりで、人参は山のようにあるのに、追加で仕方なく買いとる結果に。レジのお姉さん、折れた人参を不思議そうな表情で見ながら、説明を求めるかのように私に目線を投げかけてきました。

The carrots have been murdered while I was picking ripe avocados at the supermarket his morning and they all came home with me.

His superhero crazy has just got crazier! When I heard my 3 year old saying 「Hulk smash! Roar, hiss, craah, draah, grauhh!!!!」 and I turned around, it was too late to save those poor carrots. 
It was the time to explain with my serious voice what he can do and what he can't do when he pretends to be a superhero.  When I said, "It's not nice to break carrots at the supermaket", he knew he was in trouble, but he smiled and said, "Mama,  did you look what I did? I am so strong!".

After a long talk, I don't think it will happen again, but I hope he knows he will be eating lot of carrots in the next few days as I had bought a 2 pounds bag of carrots just the other day too.

リップカールの水しぶきを浴びながら．．．

土曜の朝. . .子供たちがなんと５時半に起床!　
ビーチに行く日は、平日と違ってめちゃくちゃ朝に強いちびっ子達です。
今日はアリッソクリークビーチに来ています。
満潮時の波が相当大きかったらしく、駐車場まで押し寄せてきた砂や貝殻、ワカメまでを、パークレインジャーのお兄さん方がかき集めている姿が見られました。
まだまだ波の高さは結構あり、ゴーゴーと音を立てながら雨のような水しぶきを浴びながらの砂遊び＋サーファーウォッチングです。

Saturday morning. . . Boys all got up at 5:30am!
"I am so not a morning person!" all become "I am Very much a morning person!" when it comes to beach day.  We were at Aliso Creek Beach.
The high tide must been crazy earlier.  The parking lot was filled with sand, sea shells, and sea weeds.  We enjoyed playing with sand and watching surfers surf for a few hours this morning.
