Veterans Day 11.11.2013

November 11 of each year is the day that we ensure veterans know that we deeply appreciate the sacrifices they have made in the lives to keep our country free.

My 8 year old wrote the poem and along with a collage for his 3rd grade weekend assignment on Veterans Day. 

Don't let this day be just another day off from school, let's talk about the veterans and be thankful for their royal service to our countr.

ベテランズデー（11月11日）．．．単に、学校がお休みで終わってしまうのではなく、 復員軍人への感謝の気持ちを抱き、敬意を評するための休日であることを忘れてはいけません。
長男の担任の先生から出された週末の課題は、息子達がベテランズデーの意味を実感するとても良い機会になりました。課題は、ネットでのリサーチや実際に復員軍にインタビューをした結果、コラージュの制作。全国各地で催されているベテランズデーの式典に関する記事をネットで読んだ後、新聞や広告の記事を切り取ったりしてあれこれ忙しそうにしていた息子が、こんなポエムも書いていました。

Veterans' Day is November 11th.

The day is to remember veterans 

and thank veterans.

Navy, Air Force, Marines, Army, 

and Coast Guard, Paralyzed and Deaf,\

 

Women who served are veterans, too.
Some are homeless, and need money.
Veterans Day is to be thankful.
