Boys Night out with Charlie

We went out to Candy Cane Lane in Rancho Santa Margarita neighborhood to see Christmas lights with Charlie.  We wanted to take him out to somewhere special on his last day at our house.
The boys couldn't touch Charlie during this entire stay as the magic goes away if children were to touch "the Elf on the Shelf".  As it is his last day with us, I allowed them to touch Charlie.
They were so happy to be able to touch Charlie. . .  way more than I expected.  They were taking turns to hold Charlie while we were out on the Candy Lane.  They were hugging him, asking him if he was too cold, asking him what he thought of the Christmas light display by each residence in the neighborhood.   With my sons being so interactive with him, Charlie seemed happier than usual.

When we came home, It's time to go to bed which means it's time to say final "Good-bye" to Charlie until next year in November.  The bitter sweet moment had come. . .My sons look so sad but hopeful that Santa will send Charlie back to us next year again.   They all gave Charlie a tight bear hugs while they were saying, "Thanks for everything, Charlie.  Come back to our house again next year. Bye, Charlie". My eldest even started to write a letter to Santa asking him to make sure he takes good care of Charlie in North Pole and be extra sure to send Charlie back to our family.
